About Us

Our Story and How It All Began

The DIB roadmap began in early 2010 with a deep study on Leiognathid's fish species. The family, originally composed of three genera, split within five years into seven distinct genera and has now expanded into 10 genera (2020). A second experience was the claim of Rasbora baliensis as an endemic species to Lake Bratan, Bali. These two experiences served as the initial inspiration for ensuring the identification process and preserving evidence of described fish specimens for public access.

Vision & Mission

Vision : To be a center of excellence in the study and confirmation of fish species in Indonesia by storing specimens and providing information to the public.

Mission : Provide complete fish species description documents (morphology, otolith, bone-staining, and DNA barcoding), and store specimens for reference and/or updating by subsequent researchers.
